A look at how I go about attaching the Gopro to the kite for aerial photography. There's lots of different ways to do this and lots of different kites and cameras that you can use. In this vid, I'm using an Into The Wind Ultrafoil 15 and Gopro on a Picavet mount. The mount cost almost nothing to build and there's lots of info on the web how to make one.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are some of the cons to using drone photography for your photos?

Drone photography allows you to capture stunning images and video. But there are also downsides when choosing to fly a small aircraft.

Drone flying is expensive. It can cost hundreds to thousands depending on which drone you buy.

A drone pilot must be trained and certified. This means that you will need to invest your time and money in order to learn how to safely fly them.

Safety is another issue. Drones are extremely dangerous because they require constant maintenance. If you lose control of your drone while taking photos or filming videos, it could cause serious property damage or injure someone.

You might find that your time spent flying your drone is more productive than actually taking pictures or recording footage. You may also have restricted airspace in which you can fly your drone.

Some local governments limit where you can fly your unmanned aircraft vehicle. You cannot fly higher than 400 feet, or within five miles of any stadiums, hospitals or schools.

Finally, drones aren't for everyone. Drones can make people nervous because they could crash or fall out from the air. Some people worry about accidentally hitting another person or object.

If you're not comfortable flying a drone, then maybe you should stick to traditional aerial photography and videography methods instead.

How much money do drone photographers make?

A photographer makes more than $10k per gig depending on how long he/she flies for and where he/she shoots. If you shoot in remote areas such as national parks or forests, you could earn upwards of $20-30 an hour.

The average person can earn between $15-$25/hour working in retail. If you want to fly drones, you could earn $50-$75. There are still many ways to make even more. Drone pilots typically fly for companies that require them to travel across the country or even internationally.

The cost of a flight can vary depending on how much time you spend flying and how far you travel. Although this can quickly add up, if you are passionate about photography and enjoy flying, it could be worthwhile.

What time is best for drone photography?

A drone could capture images from the air during sunset and sunrise hours, even though there is not much activity at ground level.

Drones can be used to capture stunning photos of landscapes or the sky above. Some drones cannot fly at night and you may miss amazing views.

To ensure you don't miss out on any potential photo ops, consider flying during sunrise and sunset hours. You have more chances to capture breathtaking shots of nature during these times because there are fewer cars driving and fewer people around.

It will also be easier to photograph in low light levels.

Additionally, the drone can withstand strong winds, rain and snow. All of these factors make daylight perfect to take photos with drones.

However, if you want to capture some nighttime scenes, consider flying during moonlit nights. This will give you a unique perspective of the cityscape below.

What are the laws governing drone photography?

Drone flight regulations are controlled by the Federal Aviation Administration. In addition to the FAA regulations, local laws may also apply. You can check with your state's transport department to find out what rules govern drone flights.

Most drone owners will need to apply for a FAA licence. The FAA has published guidelines regarding licensing. These guidelines are available here.

In certain states, drone operators are required to register their drones at the government. You can find out more in our Guide for Drone Registration.

How To

What is the best distance for a drone to fly?

A good distance for a drone is when it becomes an extension of yourself. It is possible to lose sight physical boundaries of the drone if you begin to view it as a separate entity.

A drone that is able to fly at a reasonable distance will allow you to be fully immersed in the surrounding environment without worrying about its next destination.

The psychological benefit of flying close to ground is also evident. It allows us to have more control over our surroundings and helps us feel closer with nature.

But there is a downside too. If we fly close to ground, wind and other weather conditions can cause damage to our drones. How far from the ground can you fly?

This depends on which drone you are using. You should aim to fly at least 500 feet above the ground if you're trying to capture aerial footage or film landscapes.

If you're shooting a cityscape, for example, it might be advisable to keep the distance at 1,000 feet. By doing this, you can avoid any obstructions such as trees or buildings.

Low-light conditions are a problem for drones. Lowering the altitude can help reduce hover time in dark conditions.

Make sure there are no obstructions like power lines, traffic signs, tall buildings, etc.

You might also consider flying during the daylight rather than at night. This will help you avoid reflections from street lights and shadows.

The drone's size is another important consideration. The farther away the drone must be from ground, the larger the drone. A large quadcopter, for example, requires a minimum height requirement of 300 feet.

You should never miss the golden hour if you are looking for great drone footage.

This is when you have maximum visibility between 3pm-6pm. This time you will have the most visibility from direct overhead sunshine.

It is also known by the "magic hours", which makes it ideal for creating beautiful images.

However, it is important to not fly your drone during sunrise or sunset. These times can cause poor-quality footage.

You now have all the information you need to make amazing drone videos.
